We're pretty chuffed at our line up of events for Auckland Pride Festival 2018! Be sure to mark your calendars and come hang with the Breaking Boundaries crew this February.

On February 4th, check out our Making Music with Randa workshop. This is an opportunity to collaborate and create a new track with local rapper and dickies-wearer extraordinaire, Randa. Even better - it's 100% free and open to all ages. No musical talent necessary, we will go over the basics of songwriting in a fun, casual and interactive way. Spaces are limited, so be sure to register before it's too late!

When: February 4th - 11am to 1pm
Where: GridAKL - 101 Pakenham St W, Auckland
Who: LGBTIQ+ people and friends. All ages.
Cost: Free. Register here.
Supported by Creative Communities Scheme Auckland.

Next up we have our popular Board GAYmes Night on Febraury 6th (Waitangi Day). Join Breaking Boundaries for a night of coffee, queers and the most wholesome entertainment known to humankind – board games. Whether you like cards against humanity, or a classic game of chess, Breaking Boundaries’ Board GAYmes night has you covered. We’ll provide plenty of games – but feel free to bring your favourite along, especially if it’s something strange and obscure that no one really knows the rules to. We’d love to play it with you!

When: February 6th - 7pm
Where: GridAKL - 101 Pakenham St W, Auckland
Who: LGBTIQ+ people and friends. All ages.
Cost: Entry by koha (donation).

Well, you probably already know about the next one - on February 11th we'll be hanging out at our stall at the Big Gay Out. Come say 'hi' to the hardworking team, get some free stuff, and try out our Magnetic Poetry (yep, we've revived the old crowd favourite). We'll be in the marketplace area - be sure to check it out for great food and great organisations (like us, yeah). It's a great day and should not be missed.

When: February 11th - 12pm onwards
Where: Coyle Park, Pt Chev
Who: Everyone!
Cost: Free!

And now, it's the event ya'll have been waiting for. Our supremely popular and amazing Queer Open Mic night! Whether you’re keen to get up on the mic, or just want to sit back and enjoy the show, Breaking Boundaries’ open mic night is the perfect place to get creative in a supportive and friendly environment. And with two very special guest performers, this is definitely not one to miss! You know the drill, bring your friends (or come alone, we will accommodate you), grab some koha kai, and enjoy the show.

When: February 14th - 7pm
Where: GridAKL - 101 Pakenham St W, Auckland
Who: Everyone! But the mic is reserved for queer and trans voices.
Cost: Entry by koha (donation).
Supported by Creative Communities Scheme Auckland.

And for our finale, come and unwind for a relaxing end to the Auckland Pride Festival. Unleash all of those pent up feelings on February 18 at the Breaking Boundaries Crafternoon. Hang out and create your own custom patches, jewellery, and other crafty goodness. We will have a range of speciality fabric, fabric paints and pens, craft supplies, and jewellery making supplies on hand.

When: February 18 - 2pm to 4pm
Where: Betty Wark Room, Ellen Melville Centre. Cnr High Street & Freyberg Place, Auckland
Who: LGBTIQ+ people and friends. All ages.
